Legislators in Louisville

On Sunday, July 25th, I am headed to Louisville, Kentucky for the National Conference of State Legislature’s annual Legislative Summit.  This will be the seventh year AVMA has attended the summit.

This event allows the AVMA to give state legislators and their staff a veterinary perspective on important legislative issues affecting the practice of veterinary medicine and animal welfare.

Armed with promotional materials, AVMA policy statements, white papers, and donkey and elephant stress toys, I will make sure state legislators know they can turn to AVMA as a resource when faced with veterinary and animal welfare issues in their districts.

What would you like your state legislators to know about the AVMA?  What would you like them to know about the veterinary profession?

I’d like to extend a special thank you to five Louisville-area veterinarians who have graciously volunteered to lend a hand at the AVMA booth.  Dr. Michael Auslander, Dr. Shannon Tucker, Dr. Lisa Keehner, Dr. Jack R. Nightengale, and Dr. Pat Kennedy Arrington will be at the booth to answer specific veterinary questions.  In addition, thank you to Louise Cook, the executive director of the Kentucky VMA, for getting your members involved in this important event!
