Harry S. Truman once said, “Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better.”
It is during times like this, when veterinary medicine faces many challenges – and just as many opportunities – that the AVMA and the entire veterinary profession need more leaders with energy and vision. From veterinary economics to veterinary medical education, there’s a lot on our plates, and the more people at the table to tackle these issues, the better.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering their time and service, now’s your time to act. We’re looking for volunteers to serve in a number of positions on AVMA entities.
The AVMA Executive Board recently established three new entities that are in need of representation – the Task Force on Foreign Veterinary School Accreditation, the Task Force on AVMA Governance and Member Participation, and the Veterinary Economics Strategy Committee. The deadline for nominations for these positions is Oct. 31, 2011.
We’re also seeking nominations for a variety of positions that will be filled at the November 2011 Executive Board meeting. A list of the available positions shows that we’re seeking leaders for everything from our Animal Welfare Committee to our Convention Management and Program Committee. Deadline for nominations for these entities is Oct. 11, 2011.
Other positions will be available in July 2012. And even though that might seem like a long ways off, the deadlines for nominations may sneak up on you. So why not check them out today? If you have a desire to serve, we’d love to hear from you.
