AVMA Fellows placed in key House, Senate offices

AVMA’s Fellows will provide science-based expertise and knowledge on a variety of policy issues related to agriculture, appropriations, food safety and health care in offices in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Dr. Matthew Doyle, MPH, accepted a position in the office of Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro (D-Conn.), where he will work on health-care, food-safety, public-health and agricultural issues; Dr. R. Reid Harvey, MPH, will work on agriculture, health, emergency-preparedness and Farm Bill issues for the office of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.); and Dr. Richard Smilie, MS, will spend his fellowship year in the office of Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), working on health-care and agricultural issues.
