GHLIT, PLIT Reach Out to Members Affected by Hurricane Sandy

The AVMA Group Health and Life Insurance Trust (GHLIT) and the AVMA Professional Liability Insurance Trust (PLIT) have implemented special procedures for plan members who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Emergency procedures implemented by GHLIT to help its medical plan members include special accommodations for those requiring early prescription refills because their medications were lost or damaged during the storm, or whose mail-order prescriptions cannot be refilled. These procedures will be in place through Nov. 30, 2012.

Express Scripts, which provides prescription drug coverage for GHLIT medical plans, can be reached at (800) 899-2619.

PLIT carriers have claim professionals standing by to assist members affected by Hurricane Sandy around the clock. Property and flood policyholders must report claims directly to their carrier. A list of carriers, their toll-free claims numbers and website links, as well as links to risk management tools for severe weather and catastrophes, can be found on the PLIT claim reporting page.

And finally, information about renewing your AVMA membership for 2013 is being mailed this week.  We realize the timing for those affected by the storm is less than ideal, and we understand there may be higher priorities for you right now.  Please take care of the most critical issues affecting you and your family and understand that even though you are receiving the notice now, you have until the end of the year to renew your AVMA membership.
