It is with heavy hearts that we announce the recent passing of Dr. James Harlan Steele at the age of 100. Dr. Steele made significant contributions to the veterinary profession and was considered the “father of veterinary public health.”
Dr. Steele was profiled earlier this year by JAVMA News as part of its “Legends in U.S. Veterinary medicine” series. He passed away on Sunday, according to a close colleague. Additional details were not yet available.
