On Feb. 7, President Barack Obama signed a comprehensive Farm Bill (H.R. 2642) into law that will allow the nation’s veterinarians and scientists to continue ensuring food safety, conducting important agriculture and animal research, and protecting the health and welfare of animals. The president signed the bill into law at the Mary Anne McPhail Equine Performance Center, which is an equine sports and lameness facility located within Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
The AVMA has been working with policymakers over the past several years so that they could better understand the critical need for this legislation to get passed. For more information, see AVMA’s press release and blog post.
