Urge local officials, media to ‘Celebrate healthy pets’

National Pet Week, May 4-10, 2014National Pet Week®, right around the corner in early May, offers veterinarians a chance to raise public awareness about the importance of healthcare for pets. It also offers an opportunity for you to increase your clinic’s visibility within your local community.

If you get started now, you can work with your local government to issue a National Pet Week® proclamation – and/or send a news release to your local newspaper, radio and television outlets. In addition to showing how much you care about people’s pets, these can carry reminders about how important veterinary care is for the pets we all love so much.

Through our National Pet Week® website, petweek.org, we’ve made this easy for you. We have all kinds of resources there to help you celebrate National Pet Week® in your clinic, including:

  • A sample proclamation you can personalize for your town’s mayor or your state governor.
  • A press release template that can serve as your guide to alert local media to your clinic’s special National Pet Week® events.

Check out petweek.org for other ideas and resources to help your clinic join in the celebration and encourage your clients and other pet owners to work with you to help their pets live long, healthy lives.
