Collectively, people move hundreds of thousands of animals from one place to another across the nation and around the world every day. To help reduce risks posed to animals, people, and ecosystems by such travel, countries, territories, states, and even public modes of transportation have requirements and restrictions when it comes to transporting animals.
Whether you are moving animals within the U.S. or internationally, it is your responsibility to be aware of and comply with the applicable regulations. To help with this, the AVMA has developed the following resources, which cover issues such as certificates of veterinary inspection (a.k.a. “health certificates”), acclimation statements, animal identification, and much more.
