AVMA-CAN heads to Vegas for WVC

By: Stephanie Fisher, program manager and policy analyst, AVMA Governmental Relations Division

CAN-Logo200AVMA’s Congressional Advocacy Network (AVMA-CAN) will soon be heading to Las Vegas for the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) from Feb. 16-18.

AVMA’s Governmental Relations Division staff will be there to talk with members about the association’s legislative agenda and its priorities for the new Congress. We will also be distributing our newly published recap of the 113th Congress, which showcases the legislative highlights and programs offered by the GRD in 2013-2014.

AVMA members can also sign up for the AVMA-CAN, where they can regularly take action on issues of importance to veterinary medicine. Through the AVMA-CAN, advocates can send letters to their members of Congress on issues like the Fairness to Pet Owners Act, which would require a veterinarian to provide a client with a written prescription for domesticated household animals, whether or not requested by the client. Don’t let what happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas. Join the AVMA-CAN and get involved with our federal advocacy efforts!

If you are planning on attending WVC, be sure to stop by booth #2075N in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center to join our grassroots network and help make a difference for veterinary medicine.
