AVMA Awards_2015_350x350_BlogFrom childhood through veterinary school, and throughout our careers as veterinarians, our lives are touched by people who inspire and motivate us, and people who help to improve the lives of animals in extraordinary ways.  To honor these people, the AVMA each year presents the Excellence in Veterinary Medicine Awards.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 awards now, and we encourage everyone who works in veterinary medicine or has been inspired by a veterinarian to consider submitting nominations for one or more of these honors.

The Excellence in Veterinary Medicine Awards cover a wide range of achievements and all veterinary disciplines, and you don’t necessarily have to be a veterinarian to submit a nomination – or even, in some instances, to be chosen as an honoree. Requirements for the awards vary, so take time to peruse the full list to see if someone you know should be considered as a nominee. Nomination forms can be found with the criteria for each award.

From animal welfare to research, and from companion animal practice to advocacy, the awards honor individuals who have advanced the science and art of veterinary medicine. This is an opportunity for you to give back to someone who has inspired you and made a difference in veterinary medicine. Nominations for most awards closed on February 15, 2017. Later deadlines apply to the following awards:
