The dates are set for AVMA’s 2017 Economic Summit, which will bring together industry leaders, economics experts, educators, practitioners, and other interested participants for an in-depth look at issues that impact the financial health of veterinarians and the veterinary markets.
Plan to join your peers and top veterinary economists and analysts October 23-24 in the Chicago area for two days of presentations and interactive discussions that will help you better understand veterinary markets, economic trends and forces, and best practices to grow your business.
Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including student debt, practice profitability, product markets, consumer preference, insight into current data and research, and the financial outlook of the veterinary profession. This year’s summit also will include a sneak peek at data from the AVMA’s highly anticipated 2017 Pet Demographics Survey, due for release later in the year in the AVMA’s updated U.S. Pet Ownership Demographics Sourcebook. While the new Sourcebook will not yet be available, conference attendees will get the first look at the latest findings from this expansive survey, which is conducted once every five years.
Who should attend the economic summit?
Veterinarians from any discipline can benefit from the business and economic topics explored during the AVMA Economic Summit, and it is especially pertinent to anyone in these three groups:
- Business leaders interested in the latest data on compensation, employment/unemployment, supply and demand for veterinarians, and price and income elasticities for veterinary services
- Practice owners, managers, and associates looking to understand how the veterinary markets influence day-to-day business decisions and longer-term success
- Academic leaders who want to explore economic trends in the veterinary education market
For anyone interested in gaining greater understanding of the veterinary markets, this is an event you won’t want to miss. The summit agenda outlines the breadth and depth of the information you can expect to learn as an attendee. This short video, based on one of last year’s presentations, shows how practical the material can be for working practitioners:
As previous attendees attest, the information and tools presented at the AVMA Economic Summit can help you operate your business more successfully and make better-informed financial decisions for many years down the road. This event is an important investment in your veterinary future, so be sure to mark your calendar.
Registration for the summit is expected to open later this summer, and we’ll let you know here on the blog when it does.
