Dr. Carrie Pierson

Dr. Pierson began her immersion in the veterinary field at a very young age. She was born during her father’s senior year in veterinary school at Purdue University, where her mother also graduated as a veterinary technician. Needless to say, animals have always been a major part of her life.

Dr. Pierson graduated from Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and worked as a small animal practitioner before coming to the AVMA in 2012. She served as the Assistant Director for Recent Graduate Initiatives and worked closely with the Early Career Development Committee, developing products and services for the AVMA’s recent graduate veterinarians.

Dr. Pierson is married with 2 pets – a feisty Maltese/Poodle mix named Chicklet and a lazy Siamese mix cat named Siam. She enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking, and playing the piano in her spare time.
