Dr. Elise Ackley

Elise worked as an assistant director in the AVMA’s Governmental Relations Division from August to December 2015.

In this role, she spent her time advocating on behalf of the veterinary profession to Congress and the federal government on animal health and welfare issues. Her portfolio focused on animal welfare, zoos, wildlife, environment, and conservation issues.

Prior to joining the AVMA staff, Elise worked as an AVMA Fellow in U.S. Senator Richard Durbin’s office, where she worked primarily on public health issues. Elise is a graduate of Louisiana State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She lives in D.C. with her fiancé Jordan and their two cats Gus and Leroy and dog Voodoo.
