Dr. Christine Hoang, DVM, MPH, CPH, Assistant Director of the Division of Scientific Activities of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), received both her DVM and MPH through the University of Minnesota’s dual degree program and is additionally certified in public health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
Besides being the resident expert on antimicrobials for the AVMA, she also provides technical and scientific expertise to the Food Safety Advisory Committee (FSAC), the Council on Public Health and Regulatory Veterinary Medicine (CPHRVM), and the newly formed Steering Committee for FDA Policy on Veterinary Oversight of Antimicrobials (FDA SC). She is a champion for safe food production.
In her spare time (what’s that?) while she’s not out educating the world on food safety, proper drug use, and antimicrobial resistance she can be found out and about with friends, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her pack of dogs: Mel (Cairn terrier) the senior citizen; Mike (Shih Tzu Pekingese mix) the tough guy; and Luke (the Scooby-Doo type mutt) otherwise known as the mental patient.
