This is Dog Bite Prevention Week, a time of year when the AVMA, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the U.S. Postal Service team their efforts to educate the public and help reduce the 4.7 million dog bites and 800,000 visits to doctors and emergency rooms that occur each year.
It’s a great time to remind your clients about the danger of dog bites and how they can be prevented. AVMA has a brand-new coloring book to help educate the youngest members of the family about proper behavior around dogs and how to avoid getting bit. It’s available online – in both English and Spanish – at no cost to you. You can also order it in quantities of 25 for only $15.
