Election Day: We Now Have Two Veterinarians in Congress!

Congressman-elect Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) will join Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) as the second veterinarian in the 113th Congress.  Congressman-elect Yoho defeated 12-term incumbent Republican Cliff Stearns in the Florida primary and Democrat J.R. Gaillot and Independent Philip Dodds in Tuesday’s general election.  Dr. Yoho received his DVM from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and is a large-animal veterinarian in north central Florida. Dr. Yoho had one of the most creative commercials in the election.

Congressman Schrader is coming back to Washington for his third term after defeating Republican Fred Thompson and two other candidates on Election Day.  In the 112th Congress, Congressman Schrader served on the Agriculture Committee and the Small Business Committee, and has worked with AVMA staff on DEA, soring and GHLIT issues.  Dr. Schrader received his DVM from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, and practiced in Oregon City prior to being elected to Congress.
