On December 11, the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI), a U.S. Department of Education (USDE) committee that advises the U.S. Secretary of Education, will hold a meeting to review the AVMA Council on Education’s (COE) continued recognition as the accrediting body for veterinary education; these regular meetings are a normal part of the recognition process. Following the meeting, the NACIQI, which is an advisory committee, will make a recommendation to the Undersecretary of Education, who will make the final decision.
The USDE staff analyst has submitted her report in preparation for the December 11 meeting. The COE received the report at the same time it was made public, and its members are currently reviewing and discussing the report. The COE will provide their response and additional information at the NACIQI meeting, and there will be a follow-up blog post after the meeting.
