Council on Education Session at the AVMA Convention in Boston

The Council on Education (COE) has previously held listening sessions at the North American Veterinary Conference, Western Veterinary Conference, and Student American Veterinary Medical Association Symposium. These sessions were held to gather input from members regarding the accreditation process for veterinary medical educational programs.

The COE considered all of the input gathered, and will be reporting on their responses and recent actions to address members’ feedback. The session will also include updates on pending items, such as changes to federal student loan eligibility related to recognition of the COE by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Representatives from AVMA leadership will also be present to report on recent actions the Board of Directors has taken to address member feedback on accreditation topics under its purview.

The session will be held from 3-5pm on Monday, July 13 in the Harbor Ballroom 1 at the Westin Boston Waterfront hotel. The session will be recorded and a transcript will be made available.

  1. I have seen the recent survey that will be used out of context to prove to the powers that be that the veterinary profession overwhelmingly supports the AVMA/COE, but what would happen if the majority of personal comments at these meetings were to the contrary?

Would the AVMA listen and do what their members have asked them to do?
