Innovation in animal health – what’s your opinion?

intl_oppsBy Dr. René Carlson, AVMA Director of International Affairs & WVA President

The AVMA is a member of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), which gives us, the AVMA members, influence on global issues affecting animal health and welfare, veterinary education, zoonotic diseases, and the animal health industry for animal vaccines and medicines.  What should be the priorities for innovation in the animal health sector that would allow us—veterinarians and AVMA members—to best improve animal health and welfare, and public health?

HealthforAnimals, in partnership with the WVA, invites you to take part in a survey on Innovation in Animal Health and to provide your own insight into the animal health sector and its future.  The online survey, which will be live until July 31, 2015, can be accessed at  It is intended for professionals working within the animal health sector in a variety of different capacities from a veterinary practitioner, to a manufacturer, to those involved in research.  We need to be sure the U.S. veterinary medical perspective is heard in this survey, especially from those working in the areas of food production, lifestyle diseases in companion animals, vaccine technology, and zoonotic (including vector-borne) diseases.

On behalf of HealthforAnimals and the World Veterinary Association, and as AVMA Director of International Affairs, I would like to encourage you to complete the survey on Innovation in Animal Health and thank you very much in advance for doing so!
