The 2019 World Veterinary Association (WVA) Congress will take place April 27-30 in San José, Costa Rica, and AVMA members can take advantage of special pricing. Registration for the conference is $575 for AVMA members through April 12, discounted from $800. This will be an exciting meeting for AVMA members who can attend, partly because the AVMA will host a special Animal Welfare Assessment Contest® workshop during the event.

Join us at the conference to enjoy a variety of educational sessions and a taste of the pura vida lifestyle. You’ll also be able to meet up with AVMA staff who will be attending to present the animal welfare workshop and a session discussing the AVMA Guidelines on Depopulation of Animals.

The AVMA-led Animal Welfare Assessment Contest® workshop will take place April 30 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Participants will learn about the history of the contest and how it has evolved, and experience a virtual scenario and evaluation process to get a feel for how the contest unfolds. WVA Congress attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the April 30 workshop to secure their seat. Learn more about the workshop on the WVA Congress website.

In addition to the Animal Welfare Assessment Contest® Workshop, there are other sessions we want to highlight for AVMA members, including:

  • Veterinary Medicine & Climate Change: April 28 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • WVA Animal Welfare Awards Ceremony: April 28 from 6:15 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Regenerative Medicine and Nanotechnology: April 29 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Animal Welfare in Disaster Management: April 29 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • A WVA, OIE, WHO, FAO Global Summit on One Health—The Value of Vaccination: April 30 beginning at 9 a.m.

Register for the WVA Congress to plan the rest of your itinerary, and meet up with the AVMA in Costa Rica!
