Celebrate World Veterinary Day with vaccination education materials
Observe World Veterinary Day on Saturday, April 27 with resources from the AVMA. This year’s international theme focuses on the “Value of Vaccination,” and the AVMA has a variety of tools to help you educate clients about the importance of vaccination and ease concerns about how pets may react.
Veterinary professionals know that vaccinations are an essential part of preventive veterinary medicine, protecting animals from highly contagious and deadly diseases and improving their overall quality of life. However, pet owners might not understand the importance of vaccines. Below are a few tools to help you communicate their value to your clients:
- This informative page to explain the basics of vaccinations to clients
- These brochures about rabies, canine distemper, canine parvovirus and leptospirosis
- This AVMA member handout to give clients an idea of what to expect after their pet’s vaccination
- And answers to frequently asked questions about vaccines.
In addition, Partners for Healthy Pets provides veterinarians with tools for your practice. Several of these are useful in helping you share the value of vaccination, including tips for implementing AAHA/AVMA Preventive Healthcare Guidelines and videos to help veterinary staff improve communication with pet owners.
The AVMA celebrates the veterinary profession year-round, but World Veterinary Day is a great opportunity to join together to share a common message. This year, help us spread the message that vaccination matters.
