Calling all veterinary professionals interested in working toward greater wellbeing across our shared community. Registration has opened for the 2019 Veterinary Wellbeing Summit, “Putting the WE in Wellbeing.”

Improving wellbeing is a shared responsibility that requires our combined commitment as a profession. Practice teams, business owners, organizations such as the AVMA, veterinary colleges, and individual veterinarians all have important roles to play. The 2019 Veterinary Wellbeing Summit will empower us with tools, resources, and practical ideas we can implement right away to support both our own wellbeing and our colleagues’.

The summit is presented jointly by the AVMA, American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) and Zoetis, and offers attendees the opportunity to earn continuing education (CE) credit. Additional support has been provided by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

The summit will take place November 17-19 just outside Chicago. Participants will:

  • Hear from veterinary and mental health experts about what we each can do to improve wellbeing in our workplace and personal life
  • Gain knowledge and resources to nurture both healthy individuals and healthy workplaces
  • Learn why diversity and inclusion are critical in creating a healthy work environment that values all team members
  • Join and be inspired by a community of professionals dedicated to improving wellbeing in veterinary medicine

Topics that will be addressed include effective suicide prevention and response strategies, letting go of perfectionism, exploring generational differences, and how to leverage a One Health perspective to reduce burnout and suicide risk, among others.
