Wondering how you can search for your next opportunity while working full time? The AVMA Veterinary Career Center (VCC) and the Veterinary Career Network can help.

On October 3, 2019, we’ll be hosting a free virtual career fair, providing an easy and convenient way for you to connect with hiring managers across the country, without leaving the comfort of your couch.

Whether you’re a veterinarian, technician, veterinary assistant, practice manager, or other member of the veterinary care team, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss if you’re looking to take the next step in your career.

Here’s how it works

First, register for the career fair here. Then, on October 3, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. CT (11 a.m. – 3 p.m. ET), you’ll have an opportunity to approach as many employers’ virtual booths as you like, and chat live with hiring managers. You’re invited to ask any questions you might have, including what the particular job entails, and what the organization is like as a whole. You’ll also have a chance to discuss your skills and interests, and explore how you might fit with the company.

You can participate at any time during the career fair hours – whatever is convenient for you. Since the event will take place in real-time, you might have to wait briefly in an online queue if the employer you approach is already talking with someone else – just like at an in-person event.

Don’t worry if you’re unable to connect with a particular employer on the day of the career fair. As a registered attendee, you’ll have access to the list of participating employers afterward, so you’ll be able to contact them directly. In fact, you already can find an up-to-date list of registered organizations here. Participating employers also will be able to reach out to you.

Tools to boost your career search

The Veterinary Career Center is the veterinary profession’s largest and most active job board. Once you register for the career fair, be sure to browse the VCC’s many jobseeker resources, which can help you prepare. Brush up on interview tips, polish your resume, learn how to prepare for a successful career transition, and much more. You can also watch various career development webinars on AVMA Axon to discover different career options, explore the notion of career fulfillment, and gain an understanding of compensation insights.

Employers: Reach more candidates

If you’re an employer looking to attract high-quality candidates, there’s still time for you to secure your virtual booth. It’s a flexible and cost-effective way to recruit top veterinary professionals to your organization. You can learn more and register here.
