Dr. Libby Todd

Libby Coleman Todd, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, practiced as a small animal veterinarian for eight years in Birmingham, Alabama, before joining the veterinary staff at Liberty Animal Hospital in November 2007. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University in 1999. Upon her graduation from veterinary school, she was awarded the “Dean’s Pegasus Award” as the outstanding graduate, as well as the “Gentle Doctor” award.

Dr. Todd enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, but she has had some additional specialized training in the field of thanatology, or the study of grief and bereavement. This education allows her to help her clients through the difficult time surrounding the illness and death of a beloved family pet. Dr. Todd is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and also maintains memberships in both the Alabama and Mississippi Veterinary Medical Associations. She is also a member of the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association and served as that Association’s President in 2003. Dr. Todd is currently an active participant in the activities of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, devoting a portion of her time and energy to various activities that improve the quality of veterinary medicine available in her state. During 2010-11, Dr. Todd served as President of the Alabama VMA. She and her husband, John, live in Birmingham with their cats, Briscoe and Curtis, and their dogs, Burn and Spark.
