With the start of a new year, there’s no better time to reflect on your business and consider if there are things you can do to improve the way you manage your veterinary practice. On Monday, January 7, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about one management philosophy and how it may help drive your practice’s success in 2019.

Join us for “The Lean Methodology: Evolution of Veterinary Practice Management,” a free CE webinar that will explore the lean management philosophy and how you can use it to provide greater value to your clients with more efficiency, better resource utilization and increased employee engagement.

Veterinarian and writer Dr. Chip Ponsford and internationally-recognized management consultant Mark Graban will discuss lean philosophy and how you can implement it in your veterinary practice. You’ll learn how lean management can help you better understand your practice’s challenges and solve them at the root cause, facilitate continuous improvement among your staff, and create a culture of engagement and respect in your organization.

This free, live webinar is part of the AVMA’s Lead & Learn series. It’s open to all veterinary professionals, with the option to earn 1 hour of CE credit. AVMA members who can’t attend the live session will be able to watch it later as an on-demand webinar with an option to earn the same CE credit.

If you’ll be joining us next month at the AVMA’s Veterinary Leadership Conference, you’ll be able to learn more about lean methodology during Dr. Ponsford and Mr. Graban’s presentation.

New on-demand learning

If you missed last month’s Lead & Learn webinar about how you can help human hospice and palliative care patients keep their pets, the recording is now available on our website and free for viewing by all AVMA members. In “Caring for Pets of the Sick and Elderly: Leadership in your Community,” presenters Dianne McGill, Dr. Bob Lester and Dr. Mia Cary provide insight into the importance of pets in the lives of human patients, practical ways veterinarians can provide support to the relationships, and examples of programs that help make these connections.

Also now available is the AVMA Veterinary Career Center’s latest webinar about the crucial role veterinarians can play in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. In “Disaster Strikes and You Want to Help: Career Options in Disaster Veterinary Medicine,” Dr. Warren Hess, an assistant director in the AVMA’s Division of Animal and Public Health, discusses career opportunities in disaster veterinary medicine and what you can expect if you want to assist in disaster recovery and response efforts. You can catch up on other VCC career webinars here.

The Lead & Learn series is supported by an educational grant from Zomedica.
