Funding for a 2011 House of Delegates Leadership Development Program was approved by the Executive Board. The House Advisory Committee made the proposal following a successful meeting this past October at AVMA headquarters, where staff familiarized 10 new members of the HOD with the Association's governance and initiatives. Participants become better acquainted with the depth and breadth of activities in which the AVMA is engaged—considered critical in grooming members for leadership positions within the organization.

Further, the AVMA Strategic Plan identifies leadership development as a goal of the AVMA. The Leadership Development Program provided participants with an opportunity to meet and develop personal relationships with staff members.

The House Advisory Committee believes the program was successful and that it would be beneficial to present it again in 2011. $11,550 was appropriated for the meeting.
