Partners for Healthy Pets logoPractitioners can turn to the new Partners for Healthy Pets program for a toolbox full of resources to help increase preventive care for pets.

The Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare is launching the program in early August during the AVMA Annual Convention. The resources toolbox at www.partnersforhealthypets.org will include a survey tool and an assortment of other resources available to AVMA members and members of the American Animal Hospital Association.

Among the early additions to the website are the AVMA-AAHA guidelines on preventive care for cats and dogs, with links to presentations on implementing the guidelines. The site also offers links to presentations on feline-friendly practice.

The forthcoming survey tool, The Opportunity, will allow practices to survey the veterinary team and clients about perspectives on preventive care and about the effectiveness of communication during veterinary visits. Other resources will include a guide to establishing a monthly payment program for clients and team-training materials that underscore the role of each team member in promoting preventive care.

The Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare also is developing tools to help practitioners with Internet marketing.

Attendees at the AVMA convention can learn more about the Partners for Healthy Pets program at the partnership’s booth in the exhibit hall, during lunchtime programming, or during a full day of sessions on Monday, Aug. 6.
