The AVMA's advocacy work advances the work of veterinarians by bringing veterinary voices into public policy discussions at all levels of government. Individual stories and actions are a key contributor, amplifying the voice of the profession in Congress.

Now, individual involvement with AVMA advocacy is leveling up. By working through the AVMA’s Congressional Advocacy Network (CAN), every advocacy action you take earns you points that add up to prizes.

Here’s how it works

  • If you aren’t already signed up for AVMA CAN, get started here. It’s free and easy.
  • Choose a username and avatar.
  • Accumulate points to level up through four tiers and win prizes. You automatically earn points for any kind of advocacy activity through AVMA CAN—from signing up for a newsletter to contacting or meeting with a member of Congress.
  • Track progress through your personal dashboard to see how you rank against other advocates.
