Thank you to more than 9,000 attendees who helped make AVMA Convention 2018 a mile-high experience this past weekend in Denver! We were energized and inspired by your enthusiasm and passion, and we hope that you – like we – have returned home invigorated with new ideas, connections and friendships.

For AVMA members who weren’t able to join us, we have some great ways for you to experience the excitement, inspiration and top-notch learning we had on offer at the Colorado Convention Center.

To start you off, we recorded two sessions that were livestreamed to remote audiences during Convention, and those are available for any AVMA member to view on demand. They include:

  • “Perspectives on Access to Veterinary Care,” a panel discussion exploring the landscape of access to care from varied perspectives and looking at opportunities to improve access
  • The inspiring keynote speech delivered by women’s rights advocate Shiza Shahid, which is available for on-demand viewing by AVMA members only through July 31

We also invite you to catch up on all of the exciting news announced at AVMA Convention 2018 by reading the online versions of the daily Convention newspaper. JAVMA’s news reporters covered the Convention from start to finish, and their reporting will help you ensure you haven’t missed any important news.

The AVMA made some of that news itself by announcing new services and products at Convention. Here are some of the major developments we talked about with attendees:

  • Student and Early-Career Tools: We've created a dedicated website, myveterinarylife.com, to help guide veterinary students and early-career veterinarians through the transition from veterinary school to professional life.
  • Telehealth: We’ve added a library of case studies to the AVMA Telehealth Resource Center – and have more on the way.
  • AVMA Member Edge: Our newly expanded benefits program offers exclusive discounts and rewards to AVMA members. It drew praise from attendees for the added value it brings to AVMA membership.
  • Obesity Tools: We have new materials for AVMA members to use in daily practice to help engage clients to address animal obesity.

Stay tuned for more on these new products and services in the coming days and weeks.

Also in the coming weeks, we’ll be offering Lead & Learn CE webinars covering some of the hottest topics explored in CE sessions and other events during Convention. Keep an eye on the webinar schedule posted at avma.org/CE as well as our Facebook and LinkedIn pages to see when new topics are added.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s AVMA Convention and hope that all of you will consider joining us. Our volunteer leaders and meeting planning professionals are laying the groundwork for a monumental Convention in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. Mark your calendars for Aug. 2-6, 2019, and plan to be with us!
